Due to the server move to Russia, I'm importing over to Dreamwidth. Not that my page sees much activity here since fandom took off to tumblr anyways, but hopefully, I'll catch anyone who is still here over there.
Its more fun now that I get the format. I was hunting up memes from that new YuGiOh movie and got sucked in....the phone app blows, but eh, I can use the browser.

Also, why was I not onboard USS Prideship before now? Like, i legit missed all the subtext a decade ago regatding Kaiba and Yami but mostly Kaiba because everything in DSOD was like Hachi Komatsu from NANA-level of admiration and Beyonce's baby announcement level extra but OMG i loved it.

Anyone else on there?
kari_izumi: (eh?)
I don't think there is anything I can add about this topic that hasn't been rehashed to death in the last few days. The damage done to America's soul will not be repaired any time soon.

But I wanted to make sure the few of you that still use LJ are feeling okay and extend virtual hugs to those that need them.

:)
...which is originally what I was gonna post before finding out about Wada.

Anyway, the whygodwhy.org site it became after House of Badfic (the first post official GAFF board after the original shut down) went to piss is gone. Not that anyone bothered snarking fanfic anymore and even the news section dried up ages ago, but I guess it's an idea that is past its prime. There's not much that shocks many people in fan fiction anymore, and honestly? While there's more bad fan fiction out there, there's also a whole lot more good shit, too. AO3 seems to enjoy a higher quality than most places, and at the very minimum I haven't come across shipper related character bashing in any of the fics I've read there.

No point in lamenting the past....just be glad you were there to enjoy it.

Holy shit! I had no idea he died a few months ago!

For anyone not familiar with the name, he was the guy who sang most of Digimon's opening themes including "Butterfly". I was pretty excited when he was brought on to re-record the music for Digimon Tri, the ending song for Part 2 being the last single released five days before his death from cancer.

Goddamn. I feel like I lost a bit of my childhood. It sucks harder than losing Leonard Nimoy, but he had lived to a ripe old age and achieved so much.

Fuck cancer.

Here's a link to the original theme, since LJ has updated and I don't remember how to embed into the post: https://youtu.be/6qtn_hu0CXk

Yanked from another contest I was once a part of, and will be run at [livejournal.com profile] senkaimon  as soon as I get enough sign-ups:

(Fake Cut to T3h Rulez)

(...and the sign-ups)

Good luck, and hope you join!
I'm seriously effing excited for it, despite being out the fandom for a really long time. They've taken the Digimon Adventure Tri approach to the animation and just on the trailer alone looks frigging awesome. Plus, without giving too much away, thIs reignited the Kaiba fan girl in me and reminded me why I got into the fandom to begin with.

Also, Mokuba's character design is totes adorable.

Anyway. Suffice it to say it would have been the one movie I would've seen in theaters if I were still stationed in Japan, language barrier and insanely expensive tickets aside.

How do I use it?

No,I don't plan to leave LJ completely, but given that announcement that is all but bribing members to return (apparently, a lot of people got fucked over and left three years ago, but I don't know all the details), I would like another fandom-friendly place where I can post somewhere other than the FB page with my real name on it.

So far, it seems one can only post to their own account, and not to communities. God, this must be what my parents feel like every time they use a computer or buy a new cell phone. :(

ETA: I hope [livejournal.com profile] nenya85 sees this, as she's one of the few remaining folks on my feed that still posts here to use tumblr

Although TOS!Trek isn't the series I was introduced to first (Enterprise) or my personal favorite (Deep Space Nine), his Spock character is one of the reasons TOS and Trek became what it is today. I really wished I'd had the chance to meet him.

RIP.
Well, I guess I'm back in fandom again. Hooray!

Title: Holy Matrimony
Rating:PG-13
Pairing: IchiRuki, italics/me
Genre: Crack, like whoa.
Summary: Ichigo and Rukia's wedding, where their friends make sure it'll happen....ish.

Cross-posted to a whole shit ton of places, for what that's worth these days. Meant to upload it here on Saturday, but things got busy at work.

Disclaimer: Bleach is not mine.
“Oi!” Rukia snaps as she holds her head (Although that might be from the wearing the ridiculously oversized hibiscus flower headdress she's wearing to match her dress). “I really don’t need all of you protecting my honor. And certainly not with swords!” )

When an idea that's been stuck in one's head (albeit off-and-on for seven years!) finally gets an outline written for it. Hooray! I almost don't even care that I have duty tomorrow and should've been to bed hours ago, now it's outta my head!

....I think I'll try this outline method for "Sixteen" as well, because that one was also my first baby I was proud of fanfic-wise, and I really hate leaving that one out there unfinished.

How have I NOT joined this place sooner?

FF.net's been my mainstay for posting fanfic since sophomore year of high school (!), but archiveofourown.org actually allows people to download stories to their phones and stuff. The layout is awesome sauce, allowing for multiple tags, multiple charcater/pairing options. You can even save a draft of a story withotu posting for up to 30 days--which is great, since I had one to post on Valentine's day and will be on duty and away from my house, so I can hit the "submit" button from a computer on the ship.

And also, I can frigging download those wonderful but long stories that I'll not want to sit up on a computer to read, such as The Roots of Heaven and that Winter War AU that's been the only fic still updated on [livejournal.com profile] kurosaki_clinic these days.

I assume most of you may have accounts over there, but if not, I can't recommend it enough, and will be more than happy to send invites!
So, it's been a while since I've posted...mostly for being stationed overseas, but largely 'cuz Bleach has been pretty boring the last few years.

I just caught up with the last three months, and oh boy as an Isshin fangirl, I"m sooooooooo happy right now :D

Just had to share that.

CRUNCHYROLL JUST UPLOAED DIGIMON TAMERS OMG I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT SHOW IN FOREVER

ILU GUYS

On a less sugar-high induced note, how are my people on LJ going? My schedule's always changing with my ship (as is always the case with those stationed in Japan), so I haven't had much time to do the things I need to in port, let alone fandom stuff. But the Bleach manga seems liek it's finally going somewhere these days, although I'm diappointed that Orihime didn't get to help pwn Aizen in the end and shut  the harpies at [info]bleachness  the peanut gallery up.

The cover of "Dancing With Myself" from "Glee."

Pretty much every cover of "Wonderwall", but in particular the Paul Anka one.
Here's a hint :) )

In case anyone still cares, I'm not dead, and life is good. :)

Wow....

I can't believe how many hits this fic gets. I get at least two new people putting this on their favorites' list every week, and I just published this to FF.net three months ago. So far, I have thirty people who have faved this.

By contrast, the my next most popular fic got added to a faves' list twice a month, and that was when the fic was still active. In three years, that one's gotten 47 faves. I never, ever thought this would get that noticed, to say it was a one-off idea I had late one night!

And since I'm on the subject of fic writing, and I 've have this thought for a while: ASDFGHJKL, why is Karin so hard to write for? I have to give props to [livejournal.com profile] adam_epp for being able to write seven chapters from her point of view in his fic, because boy is it hard to write something that is a bit too girlish for her nature or something that makes her come off as a Tsundere, which for all her tough attitude she really isn't.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Me a few months ago:

"As The World Turns is getting saddled with one of the writers being blamed for stories that helped kill Guiding Light...and I suspect I'll be lamenting over that show's demise on Sept 17th, 2010."

O joy, I was right. :|

It's pretty telling when most of the fans online have reactions along the lines of "Well that's sucks, but we saw it coming" instead of being really upset. Even after the cancellation of the last Trek series, you had pages of fans and long-time bashers alike coming out the woodwork with some passion about this.

Admittedly, I can't say I'm that torn up about it's demise either. Aside from only following for four years. I don't have much sympathy for the head writers and producers whose talents would be better served wasting bandwidth at FF.net. I do wish all the best for the cast, many of who have some great acting chops that didn't get used nearly as well as they could have been.

Le sigh. 54 years is a hell of a run, and there are countless familes that grew up on this show and watched it with their mothers and grandmothers. Not even Star Trek with its legion of obsessive passionate fans have united generations of families like soaps have with women.
