People have been saying that Ichigo went to HM to fight in the first place for ages, but that's mostly from certain shippers who don't want him to care about Orihime at all. Now it's the non-shippers who just want bad-ass Ichigo back.

Though, I don't think he's on a self-destructive course like some people think. I think he wants to just get this over. Maybe he's not facing his issues, but there's not really any plot time for that. Yammy released as Ulquiorra died. He doesn't have much time to deal with what happened.
