Need help, guise :(

First off, let me give a welcome to the new friends I've added recently in the last week (If I forgot to friend you back from the new meme, let me know. My mind's been a scattered mess lately, so it probably just slipped my mind).  I hope to have some more fun and light-hearted posts up in the next few days.

Secondly, as those of you who have kept up with senkaimon know, my other computer recently crashed and I have barely had time to get out to the library. That's also not been the only thing going on.I've also been dealing with anxiety over some RL drama with my mom and stepdad. I don't want to get into that too much, but between that and working nights and not being able to sleep well, I've been very, very exhaushted...mostly more mentally than physically. Most days, I'm pushing myself to get online and check up on this board because it's not fair for those who have joined up on this contest to have to put up with me being so incompetent and not being able to balance my time.

Thirdly, I've also been trying to enlist in the Navy. If I'm accepted (and the assholes in recuiting are doing everything to discourage that because the recession has seen a large swell in applications and I mistaken thought I still had ashtma), it will be a year's wait before I ship off to basic training. The contest should be over by then (but at this snail's pace, who knows?) but with my family's financial and housing situation growing more dire, I will probably make an active effort to get shipped off sooner than that.

This is still up in the air on if I'll even make it to MEPS at all, but besides that, I think everyone will agree a right-hand man (or woman! :P ) is needed for this contest.

So with that in mind, I'm asking if there is anyone on my F-list (or the comm, if you were directed from there) who would like to help run this contest. And by that, I mean actively co-run or possibly take over if in the event that I'm completely taken away from the computer. I'm looking for someone who is not currently taking part of the contest or have already been eliminated to leave my master list with in the event that I'm gone from my computer for longer than a week, and to send out emails/PMs if it's getting late in a round to ask what's up. I can made that person or people a maintainer so that if they need to post a voting thread in my absence, I'll still be able to read the screened comments (I'm pretty sure, right? I have no mod experience outside of this board!) to verify voting for myself.

I don't intend to just walk away unless I absolutely have to, but I really have to look after my health, and the days of late-night Web browsing are gonna have to be a thing of the past. I'll make an effort to get online in the mornings before work, but that isn't always possible,and I'm really trying to get this contest to run as smoothly as possible, because I really like the people I've come to find as a result of this contest.

Even though we've had a lot of trouble ourselves, I and Taso are still more than willing to help you out with whatever you need.

My troubles have subsided for the moment, so I'm hoping I'll have more time to myself. And that would give me more time to help.

I wish you luck in your endeavors with the Navy--and please take care of yourself. I'm taking a day off from work today myself to try and see if I can make my stress any better. ♥

Hello, I've friended you - can't understand why I didn't do it before - and I can back off from the contest and help you, if you wish. I'm not much of a writer anyway and all my RL difficulties got resolved so I can log in every night (my time).

Please take care of your health, dear, and best of luck with getting into the Navy. Times are a bitch to lots of people and I do understand you, having just managed to save my job in the face of a storm of opposition.

No, I wouldn't want you to back off just to help out, and the fun of these sorts of contest is being able to write new things, regardless of skill (Hell, I'm no Debbiechan or Jaina myself in the writing department). Perhaps I'll just give everyone permission to go ahead with the voting thread and in the event that I'm not able to see the screened comments, I'll ask the OP to unscreen the thread. :shrugs:

I'm glad you were able to save your job. I've more or less been squeezed from one department of Target to the one that everyone hates because TPTB want to save money, and I'm fairly certain I won't get out of it, short of quitting my whole job.
