Fucking finally done, eleven years after the first time I tried to write this pairing in another larger crackship fic and it never left me. I may do a commentary on this later cuz I had a blast trying to nail this ship just to say I frigging did it xD

Apologies for the two different fonts. I copied and pasted the fic and the other info from two different places and I don't see a way to change the font besides trying to sort through the HTML soup.

It's the year of our lord 2019 and almost ten years to the day after this post, I finally about 95 percent done with a fic for this ship. I won't lie, part of me is legit scared to post it because of the festering shit hole fandom has turned into over this kind of ship  which is why I didn't post this on Tumblr (although I've vauged about the fic itself)

OTOH...is there age discourse to be had in Bleach of all fandoms? There aren't even any consistent aging rules within the universe. In looking up some info I found out Byakuya is somehow closer in age to Hitsugaya than his own Vice-Captain. WTH. And I'm sorry but when all the Soul Reapers are pushing 100+ on the younger end and there's been every combination of Ichigo with half the Seireitei I'm not quibbling about the five year age difference because this human/Shinigami pairing involves one of his sisters. Antis can die mad.

On a related and less salty note, I dipped my toes into the HitsuKarin tags... I'm not the biggest fan of that pairing, but it makes up 80 percent of all Karin centric content so whaddyagunnado, right? But I came across a very interesting trend: namely that in the rare instance that there's ever a spoiler between then, it's always Renji.

Every.
Fucking.
Time.

Even in this fic in which Seireitei is the name of a host club (legitimate one of three AUs in any fandom I've enjoyed, which is more astonishing), Karin's initial choice was "Baboon King" and I died at that host name because dude...come on xD

My first fandom experience was with Star Trek Enterprise: a show I got into in part because every other premiere that season was pushed back because of 9/11 and mostly for the crush on the nerdy guy in school.

For the sake of brevity I won't wax nostaligic about how it was my gateway into fanfic, the friends I've made or how i ended up giving the rest of Trek that my aunt foist upon me after school a fair shake because of it.I will say that the show was not without it's flaws but still it had a dedicated, if wanky and ship-frenzied fanbase that enjoyed it for what it was. Borg episodes, Freudian slips, decon chamber and all.

And then the finale happened. Oh, boy.

It was, to be short, a clusterfuck. Theres a link to read up on that, but I'll cut to what irked most fans: Trip Tucker's stupid, needless death for manufactured angst. He was the fan favorite by a long shot, had finally gotten with his own alien girlfriend in the previous episode after an entire season of will they/won't they after they'd done the do the season before. It was so out of character with his jumpiness and all for some speech the captain needed to make. Like I said, this is the clif notes version (and Zarabitha will be by to confirm all of this is truth).

To say it was poor received is to call a cat 5 hurricane a light sprinkle. Fans who'd only ever watched this version of Trek felt betrayed...like their viewership didn't matter to two producers living out their glory days from The Next Generation, whose characters were the actual star of this episode. And this was after we'd seen Trip dig himself out of his anger after his sister died, watched him suffer as his love interest entered a marriage obligation, and then lose their cloned baby.

Trip wasn't even my fave, but even I was pissed with his fans. Most refused to ever invest in another Trek series again, but there were a number who only like he was dead to get their own ship, to my embarrassment. For YEARS, both sides of the ship war accused the other of trolling or whining until us original run rans eventually fucked off to other fandoms.

So that is one helluva achievement to get both sides of an equally ship passionate fanbase--one of which has been notorious throughout an entire blogging platform for inappropriate behavior and trolling the other rival ship--to say "What kind of shit is this?!" in a decision that will leave VLD as the HIMYM of modern children's TV.
But hey, the ending got antis and Sheith fans to unite against staff! Its a Chrismas miracle! *facepalm* ))

I CAN HAZ GLITTER TEXT AGAIN ON POST

IM LIKE

IM LOVING IT

(The creator is [personal profile] here  and there are plenty to choose from!)

ETA: huh, can't get it to not display the Strikethrough, so here's the journal directly: https://blindingsparkle.livejournal.com
kari_izumi: (Default)
Anyone know how to turn that off? I'm looking through settings and I can't seem to figure this out, or even how that got turned on in the first place, because I never had that set on LJ when I imported this journal originally.

*looks around* Hey, this place seems pretty nice. I wonder why we didn't move here before ๐Ÿ˜†

So, I'm here....sorta. I'll be splitting fandom time between here and Pillowfort and I'll see where the chips lie

So for my muturals that made the jump here before it was cool: what's new in Bleach fandom?
kari_izumi: (Default)
Due to the server move to Russia, I'm importing over to Dreamwidth. Not that my page sees much activity here since fandom took off to tumblr anyways, but hopefully, I'll catch anyone who is still here over there.

Its more fun now that I get the format. I was hunting up memes from that new YuGiOh movie and got sucked in....the phone app blows, but eh, I can use the browser.

Also, why was I not onboard USS Prideship before now? Like, i legit missed all the subtext a decade ago regatding Kaiba and Yami but mostly Kaiba because everything in DSOD was like Hachi Komatsu from NANA-level of admiration and Beyonce's baby announcement level extra but OMG i loved it.

Anyone else on there?
kari_izumi: (eh?)
I don't think there is anything I can add about this topic that hasn't been rehashed to death in the last few days. The damage done to America's soul will not be repaired any time soon.

But I wanted to make sure the few of you that still use LJ are feeling okay and extend virtual hugs to those that need them.

:)

...which is originally what I was gonna post before finding out about Wada.

Anyway, the whygodwhy.org site it became after House of Badfic (the first post official GAFF board after the original shut down) went to piss is gone. Not that anyone bothered snarking fanfic anymore and even the news section dried up ages ago, but I guess it's an idea that is past its prime. There's not much that shocks many people in fan fiction anymore, and honestly? While there's more bad fan fiction out there, there's also a whole lot more good shit, too. AO3 seems to enjoy a higher quality than most places, and at the very minimum I haven't come across shipper related character bashing in any of the fics I've read there.

No point in lamenting the past....just be glad you were there to enjoy it.

Holy shit! I had no idea he died a few months ago!

For anyone not familiar with the name, he was the guy who sang most of Digimon's opening themes including "Butterfly". I was pretty excited when he was brought on to re-record the music for Digimon Tri, the ending song for Part 2 being the last single released five days before his death from cancer.

Goddamn. I feel like I lost a bit of my childhood. It sucks harder than losing Leonard Nimoy, but he had lived to a ripe old age and achieved so much.

Fuck cancer.

Here's a link to the original theme, since LJ has updated and I don't remember how to embed into the post: https://youtu.be/6qtn_hu0CXk

Yanked from another contest I was once a part of, and will be run at [livejournal.com profile] senkaimon  as soon as I get enough sign-ups:

(Fake Cut to T3h Rulez)

(...and the sign-ups)

Good luck, and hope you join!

I'm seriously effing excited for it, despite being out the fandom for a really long time. They've taken the Digimon Adventure Tri approach to the animation and just on the trailer alone looks frigging awesome. Plus, without giving too much away, thIs reignited the Kaiba fan girl in me and reminded me why I got into the fandom to begin with.

Also, Mokuba's character design is totes adorable.

Anyway. Suffice it to say it would have been the one movie I would've seen in theaters if I were still stationed in Japan, language barrier and insanely expensive tickets aside.

How do I use it?

No,I don't plan to leave LJ completely, but given that announcement that is all but bribing members to return (apparently, a lot of people got fucked over and left three years ago, but I don't know all the details), I would like another fandom-friendly place where I can post somewhere other than the FB page with my real name on it.

So far, it seems one can only post to their own account, and not to communities. God, this must be what my parents feel like every time they use a computer or buy a new cell phone. :(

ETA: I hope [livejournal.com profile] nenya85 sees this, as she's one of the few remaining folks on my feed that still posts here to use tumblr

Although TOS!Trek isn't the series I was introduced to first (Enterprise) or my personal favorite (Deep Space Nine), his Spock character is one of the reasons TOS and Trek became what it is today. I really wished I'd had the chance to meet him.

RIP.

Well, I guess I'm back in fandom again. Hooray!

Title: Holy Matrimony
Rating:PG-13
Pairing: IchiRuki, italics/me
Genre: Crack, like whoa.
Summary: Ichigo and Rukia's wedding, where their friends make sure it'll happen....ish.

Cross-posted to a whole shit ton of places, for what that's worth these days. Meant to upload it here on Saturday, but things got busy at work.

Disclaimer: Bleach is not mine.
โ€œOi!โ€ Rukia snaps as she holds her head (Although that might be from the wearing the ridiculously oversized hibiscus flower headdress she's wearing to match her dress). โ€œI really donโ€™t need all of you protecting my honor. And certainly not with swords!โ€ )

When an idea that's been stuck in one's head (albeit off-and-on for seven years!) finally gets an outline written for it. Hooray! I almost don't even care that I have duty tomorrow and should've been to bed hours ago, now it's outta my head!

....I think I'll try this outline method for "Sixteen" as well, because that one was also my first baby I was proud of fanfic-wise, and I really hate leaving that one out there unfinished.

How have I NOT joined this place sooner?

FF.net's been my mainstay for posting fanfic since sophomore year of high school (!), but archiveofourown.org actually allows people to download stories to their phones and stuff. The layout is awesome sauce, allowing for multiple tags, multiple charcater/pairing options. You can even save a draft of a story withotu posting for up to 30 days--which is great, since I had one to post on Valentine's day and will be on duty and away from my house, so I can hit the "submit" button from a computer on the ship.

And also, I can frigging download those wonderful but long stories that I'll not want to sit up on a computer to read, such as The Roots of Heaven and that Winter War AU that's been the only fic still updated on [livejournal.com profile] kurosaki_clinic these days.

I assume most of you may have accounts over there, but if not, I can't recommend it enough, and will be more than happy to send invites!

So, it's been a while since I've posted...mostly for being stationed overseas, but largely 'cuz Bleach has been pretty boring the last few years.

I just caught up with the last three months, and oh boy as an Isshin fangirl, I"m sooooooooo happy right now :D

Just had to share that.
