Wait, what?

So apparently, no comms for Renji only exists. Seriously WTF, Bleach fandom?
(I wish I had a paid account, because my icons just don't cut it sometimes).
On a tangent, I finally get what it's like to ship a pairing that no one writes for. And the pairing I like isn't even that cracked out along the lines of, say Coolhorn/Shinji and the two have personalities that could work well together--his brashness, her wittiness as one example. And Ichigo's the common denominator between them with one being his friend and other other his sister (I can't wait to write that scene!!), so they could certainly run into each other that way, somehow.
And yet, it's hard for me to write a situation for me to put Renji and Karin together. Originally, it sprang up in a scrapped fic in which Rukia's getting married, so the family goes to SS, and Ichigo would eventually find out they'd been dating for months without him knowing. :D Then, I put my thinking cap on and realized this couple actually be quite interesting. I stopped thinking much about it when my Internet turned off and I didn't have much need to be on the computer, but now I'm back, and I'm looking at my old stuff, and unliek the rest of the WTFery of that fic, this still appeals.
So now, the problem in writing is trying to find a way to get them to interact on a regular basis. I don't want to take the easy life line of sticking her in the Gotei 13 out of nowhere or having her join the Academy at some age between 15 to 21 , and I don't know how much time a Vice-Captain has to take trips through the Human world on a regular basis.
ASDFGHJKL, I hate being a good fic writer sometimes, and I hate writers' block.

Date: 2009-06-03 05:34 am (UTC)And how dare you make me think about Renji and Karin. It's so wrong (he's almost fifty years older than her and is still head over heels in love with Rukia), never mind the fact that Ichigo would kill him for laying a hand on his younger sister, but I'm starting to think that it would be strangely awesome...? D: W-what are these conflicting feelings?
Also, maybe you can have the two of them interact by writing a sort of AU during the Arrancar arc, while Renji and the other Shinigami are in Karakura Town. Maybe Renji stays at the Kurosaki home as well? (Oh god, can you imagine him and Ichigo being roommates? Or have to share a bathroom? CHAOS.)
Um. Hope that helps your writer's block a little.
Take three?
Date: 2009-06-03 06:34 pm (UTC)I've seen single-character comms around for most of the characters, like Ichigo and Rukia. But yeah, Renji not having one kind of surprises me. I agree about the crazy amount of ship comms. It's the reason I opened up
Oh, yes, conflict indeed. Just as planned XD I ship RenRuki too, BTW. I swear in the anime that Rukia has a way different speaking manner/demeanor with Renji than just about everyone else in the few scenes they share together after SS. And I would be in Heaven if KT pulled a RenRukiIchi triangle on us, because I'd be a winnar either way.
God knows there hasn't been a decent one on any daytime soap opera I watch in years. Not I watch daytime TV. LolYou know, I was gonna try to make this an epic multi-chapter story, but now that you've mentioned the idea of Renji visiting the Kurosaki household, I realize what little I did write on that situation could easily be the fic itself instead of just one part of it. It'll be more concise and I could still do what I wanted with the pairing, which was to make a case on how two character that have never interacted in canon could still work with the right writing. Thanks! :D

like
bleachness, because some of the people there act like I just confessed to eating babies for breakfast. It's almost sad, how adamant they can be in making the Ichigo/Orihime fans miserable. And lol! I just imagined a Renji/Rukia/Ichigo love triangle like a day time soap opera. That was both frightening and incredibly amusing.
BUT GO GO GO! WRITE THAT RENJI/KARIN FANFIC! I'd read it. :) Good writers are hard to come by.

Daytime triangles suck, and suck hard. The last decent one I can remember was the one on "As The World Turns that involved one of the parties coming out as being gay, while he's dating the best female friend of the guy he's in love with. It was a damn good story.
You know, I have a ton of Ichihime fans on my flist despite being an IchiRuki fan! I'm one of those folks who likes what I like, but just can't beat it into the ground analyzing every fucking panel to prove it's gonna happen.I don't think every Ichiruki fan does this, but it's hard to find those that don't.
Maybe it's because I haven't had a couple I 'ship become canon since Tommy/Kim on Power Rangers, but I just don't take shipping too seriously. If it happens, great. If not, there's still fanfiction and fanart. I've been in too many fandoms and seen too many nutbird fans
have their fun ruinedruin their own enjoyment of the show over what should and shouldn't be canon to let it happen to me. *Has Avatar, Digimon and Enterprise fandom in mind*Then again, given the nature of the OP, I'm sure you probably figured that out ;)
Re: Take three?
Date: 2009-06-04 03:10 pm (UTC)Haha. And obviously you are an Ichigo/Rukia fan that an Ichigo/Orihime fan doesn't have to be afraid of in biting off the head of for having a different opinion. Why can't more of the Ichigo/Rukia fans be like you, I wonder?
Also, lol about Power Rangers! I used to love that show when I was little, and I think I might have shipped them too. (Tommy and Kim were Red and Pink, right?)
But I totally agree about shipping pairings. That's what i'm doing with Ichigo/Orihime right now. There's a reason why I lovethem, but if those reasons are just because they're good friends or something more, it's only up to Kubo Tite-sensei. And I'm definitely not going to harass other fans because I feel like my pairing is being "threatened". I don't know why other people don't feel the same...
